Wait… what? What does “on fleek” even mean anyway? I obviously have not been keeping up with the Kardashians… anyways.
I hope you all had a fantastic weekend! I have started this week out with a strong cup of coffee and I am keeping my end goal in mind… a 3 day weekend! Woohoo! This weekend I was able to enjoy a little bit of time outside strolling around running errands. It may have been overcast, but that’s nothing a bright and cheery floral top can’t fix! Some time ago, I was able to snag this top from J.Crew Factory Store online. The fabric is soft and silky but the print was what sold me. They also happened to match my new oversized Baublebar earrings PERFECTLY! Win/win in my book. Unfortunately, this exact top is sold out but I linked some pieces below that come in the same print.
Side note: I have added a cool little tool on my blog for those of you that like to shop my pictures via Instagram! Click on the Shop My Instagram tab at the top of this page for more info! 🙂
This summer it seems like every designer is going for the minimalistic look when it comes to clothing to make way for BOLD accessories in wild patterns and colors.
What I hear from most of my readers is that they love fun accessories, but do not really know what to wear them with. I put this outfit together with the intentions of showing you how a plain white shirt will be a closet staple this summer so you can show off those fun accessories!
Tips for picking your white shirt:
* Go for a sturdy material. Generally, I shy away from white shirts (mostly because I am clumsy and will probably get spaghetti sauce on it) because I always find myself having to wear a cami because it is see-through. That’s fine for winter, but during the summer, you are going to want minimal layers so the air can flow freely.
* Go for a collar. Since most of the accessories this season are swaying towards super girly and casual, a collar can dress up the outfit and add a masculine feature to give you balance. When it comes to collars, I gravitate toward mock collars. They help since my neck is not long or skinny like a model’s. (Thanks gymnastics. You can call me the hulk.) I may also be a little bias since my Dad was known for wearing them… and he ROCKED it well!
* Go for something with character. I am never one for anything plain. I may be a little over the top for some people but I buy everything I wear with the mentality of it blending in as a staple, but still able to make an impact on it’s own. The back of this shirt has a dramatic pleat that I loooooooved as soon as I laid eyes on it. (Like loved so much I paid full price. yes… that is a deep love.) Anyways, sorry for getting weird there for a second… I have added some different examples in the Shop this look section below.
Side note** I wanted to mention a couple of accessories from this post are from The Flourish Market and linked above. Don’t forget you get free shipping if you use code “stephanie” at checkout! Their stuff is amazing and I had to have this bag… and the ring… well, you guys get it!
Thank you for making it to the end of this novel and have a GREAT Friday and weekend, y’all!
Happy Monday, friends! I hope everyone had a great weekend. It was absolutely beautiful here in Raleigh, NC. Over the weekend it was mostly warm but yesterday the temperatures took a dip! (anything below 75 is chilly for me, haha) While trying to find an outfit to fit the weather, I figured it would be a perfect time to do a play on the Pantone combo colors of the year, Serenity and Rose Quartz.
According to Pantone, when you wear the two colors above together, Serenity (light blue) and Rose Quartz (light pink,) it is supposed to create balance and peace. Lord only knows how much peace I need in my life! (There are some things prescription medication cannot fix.) In all honesty, pastels are not typically colors I am drawn to but I don’t hate it. This sundress was something I got from Old Navy at a steal. (currently less than $20 and comes in multiple patterns and colors) I threw on this sheer open cardigan from Loft and it was the perfect coverage to take the chill out of the air, without being too much.
I still think I prefer brighter colors during this time of the year. However, if you are witnessing the majority of your friends have babies recently, its the perfect attire for a gender reveal party!
